Can you recommend any awesome “classic” (70′s, 80′s) rock songs for my kid brother?
Question by kris12342004: Can you recommend any awesome “classic” (70′s, 80′s) rock songs for my kid brother?
My 13-yr-old brother has just “discovered” music and got an ipod for Christmas. He is liking Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and that type of thing. I’d like to recommend some songs for him to download but am not really into that kind of music and my knowledge is really limited. Any suggestions for “must-hear” songs for a kid just getting into music?

LikeDislikeWhat a cool thing to do.
Great music of the 70′s and 80′s came from groups like
BTO(bachman, turner overdrive)-”Taking care of business” “Not Fragile”
Styx-”Come Sail Away”, “Mr’ Roboto”
Boston- “More Than a Feeling”, “Smokin”, “Don’t Look Back”
The Steve Milller Band-”Jungle Love”, Fly Like An Eagle”‘ “Take the Money and Run”
Ted Nugent- “Cat Scratch Fever”, “Wango Tango”
There are so many great bands from that time, but I was just a little kid listening to my older brother’s and sister’s stuff.

Rocky Mountain Way – Joe Walsh

LikeDislikeJust start off clean…
“Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith.
Then try “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd from
their album, “The Wall”.
He will find his groove……
Led Zeppelin will then peak his curiosity….
Once the ship “sets sail” in this venue…
He will find himself on a true voyage of discovery.
As we all did when we were 13.
I was lucky enough to find these artists
at the time they were writing and performing their work.
It’s cool that your brother is interested at the age of 13
in the music of this era.
“Must Hear Songs”????
To many to list!!!
Stick with the Bands..
The albums…
The era….
Can’t go wrong!!
P.S.
Anything from “The Rolling Stones” from the 60′s would be a great place to start…..
Good Question!!!

LikeDislikeJust about anything from The Wall is pretty rock-ish and catchy, and he should like it.
However, assure him that it’s only art if he happens to ask about In The Flesh!. It has some questionable lyrics which should be taken as parody, not as personal views. Search up Another Brick in the Wall (all three parts), Mother, Young Lust, One of My Turns, Hey You, Nobody Home, Comfortably Numb, and The Trial. This is the basic bare bones story. I highly recommend just getting the album, though.
